65mm piston rings

Post by FowenB » Wed Mar 19, 2025 6:52 pm

This might be helpful to someone else - For my Giubileo 202 Super Scrambler, I measured the bore to be 65mm after pounding out the frozen piston, which took over an hour of hard hammering. I searched on eBay and found a 3-piece, 65mm Fiat piston ring set from India. From broken fragments i dug out of the piston ring grooves, i measured the thickness of the original rings, and the seller confirmed that the Fiat rings were the same, or very close. The end gaps of the new rings were acceptable, except for the oil ring, which had a spring that I could not make work, and so I left it out. The engine has run well since the rebuild, with no smoke, and good compression.

Cheers
Al.

I do not know what model Fiat the 65mm rings were for. I just searched eBay for that size and the ring set from India popped up, with the description stating they were Fiat rings.
